Purchasing on the Internet safely

Identify trusted sites

As far as possible, give preference to known brands. Be particularly vigilant on sites which offer selling between individuals.

Pay for your purchases on-line securely

For payment by bank card, an on-line sales site will ask you for the 16 digits of your card, its expiry date and the 3 cryptogram digits printed on the back of your card.

Some retailers use the 3D-Secure service. The service uses the MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa programs. The aim of this system is to combat fraud. With this system, you are redirected to a secure page of your bank where you have to authenticate yourself in order to validate the transaction.

À la BECM, your authentication during payment is through one of our protection solutions.

Once the transaction has been completed, close the session and keep the summary of the order which is generally sent to you by e-mail.

Payweb Card, to make payments on-line in perfect safety

La BECM offers the Payweb Card service. Payweb Card allows you to generate a virtual and temporary card number, associated with your account for making a payment on the Internet. You therefore do not need to disclose the actual number of your payment card for your purchases thus minimising the risk of fraud.
